Built by people who shipped a platform before they pitched it.

Most AI builder companies are six months old. Weezzi has been an operating platform for over two decades — running real businesses, generating real applications, long before generative AI made its design public.

Our legacy of innovation

Two decades of building what AI
companies are only now discovering.

For over two decades, Weezzi has been quietly building what most AI companies are only now discovering: a true production platform for business systems. Founded in 2002 by Luis Bontempo, the company pioneered model-driven development long before "low-code" was a buzzword.

The 2011 creation of the Weezzi Builder — a visual, metadata-driven canvas with full code generation — gave a small team the power to ship complex, enterprise-grade SaaS products. Today, that same battle-tested architecture meets generative AI in Weezzi Builder: the first platform that turns a prompt into a complete, ownable, production-ready business operating layer.

2002
Founding · A bold vision

Founded with a clear mission to empower businesses through technology.

Luis Bontempo establishes Weezzi to create SaaS platforms that empower businesses with truly innovative technology. Long before "SaaS" became a category and a decade before "low-code" was coined, the company commits to a contrarian thesis: that small teams, armed with the right platform, could ship enterprise-grade software.

2005
Validation · Innovation Agency

Early validation from the Portuguese Innovation Agency.

Official support and recognition from the Portuguese National Innovation Agency propel the early development phase. The endorsement validates the platform's distinctive approach and lays the foundation for the model-driven architecture that defines Weezzi to this day.

First public confirmation that Weezzi's approach was structurally different from prevailing frameworks.
2009
Launch · Product-market fit

Official launch — and over 1,000 registrations with almost no advertising.

Weezzi opens publicly. The platform attracts more than a thousand registrations with practically no marketing spend — clear, organic evidence of strong product-market fit and a real demand for what the team had built.

2011
Rebuild · Birth of the Builder

Major platform rebuild — the Weezzi Builder & Server are born.

Following the deprecation of Adobe Flash, the entire system is rebuilt from the ground up. Luis creates the core Weezzi Builder — a powerful visual canvas (Swing/Java desktop) where developers design databases, business logic, integrations, and advanced meta-types purely visually, with full automatic code generation.

This model-driven architecture is what enables a tiny team to build and maintain enterprise-grade systems like Weezzi.com today.
2017
Site Editor · Multi-device

The groundbreaking Site Editor launches.

Multi-device real-time editing, image manipulation, loyalty systems, and advanced customization features go live. The Site Editor matches and in several areas surpasses enterprise-grade platforms — built and maintained by the same small team, on the same model-driven foundation.

2021
B2B · Enterprise sales

Introduction of Weezzi Business.

The B2B solution, paired with a traditional enterprise sales process, brings the first major business clients onboard. The platform proves it can serve much larger organizations than its original SMB market — a key step toward today's mid-market and enterprise positioning.

2025
SaaS · Public launch

Weezzi.com launches as an affordable, full-featured SaaS.

Powerful tools for websites, webstores, and operational workflows become accessible to businesses of all sizes (official launch March 2025). The same year, Weezzi is recognized by the Portuguese National Innovation Agency with the Selo I&D and highlighted at Web Summit as one of Portugal's most promising startups.

2026
Builder · AI-native evolution

Weezzi Builder — the AI-native chapter of a 24-year journey.

The proven model-driven platform becomes fully AI-powered and web-based. Natural-language prompts now generate complete production systems with runtime Site Editor, code ownership, free self-hosting, and enterprise services.

The first platform that turns a prompt into a complete, ownable, production-ready business operating layer.

The team

Two founders.
One belief: ship first, pitch second.

Luis Bontempo

Founder

Founder of Weezzi since 2002 and the architect behind its model-driven generation engine. Twenty-plus years designing enterprise systems for BNP Paribas, Vodafone, Verizon, IBM, Oracle, and SIBS — multi-tenant platforms, trading middleware, large-scale architectures. That decade of patterns is what Weezzi Builder now generates from a prompt. Leads product, engineering, and enterprise GTM.

Pedro Trindade

Co-founder

Co-founder of Weezzi and its design partner from 2005 to 2017, shaping the look and feel of the original platform and product. Today Project & SEO Manager at Lidl Portugal, with a background spanning Altice, Xposition, and Cofina Media. Advises Weezzi Builder on product direction and design judgment, drawing on two decades of UX/UI work across enterprise and consumer brands.

What we believe

Four convictions
that shape every release.

01 / 04

Own the code,
or you don't own anything.

Every Weezzi-generated app emits standard Java, Python, JavaScript. Self-host on Docker or Kubernetes, free, forever. No proprietary runtime. No exit fee.

02 / 04

Ship before you pitch.

The platform was operational years before we ever drafted an investor deck. We don't believe in vapor — every claim in our marketing is something the platform actually does today.

03 / 04

Founders, devs & operators
are one team.

The wall between "people who build software" and "people who use it" is what makes most enterprise tools miserable. Weezzi puts both on the same canvas.

04 / 04

Sovereignty
is not optional.

GDPR, the EU AI Act, and the IT-skills crunch make code ownership a board concern. We build for buyers who treat where their software runs as a strategic decision.
